Tens of Thousands of Undocumented Immigrants in Michigan Await Supreme Court Ruling
Justice Anthony Kennedy, who is typically the court’s swing voter, seemed to side with Texas and the 25 other states arguing the president overstepped his executive authority in granting deferred deportation to almost 5 million immigrants.

At issue is Obama’s Deferred Action for Parents of Americans and Lawful Permanent Residents, or DAPA.
Verrilli said the court should throw out the case because Texas officials have chosen on their own to offer driver’s licenses, at a subsidized cost, to immigrants who are in the country lawfully. “These policies will allow families with deep ties to this country to legally work and contribute even more to our economy”.
“Abbe Allen Kinston of the Santa Barbara law firm Kingston, Martinez & Hogan said”, Prior to the injunction in the Texas case we had hundreds of cases ready to file. Without these protections, undocumented parents face deportation and separation from their children behind, and are also more vulnerable to wage theft and abuse in the work place.
Erica Schommer, clinical assistant professor of law at the St. Mary’s Law School, said, the parents in question are considered “the lowest priority” for removal.
The case was brought by 26 states with Texas on top of them which sued to block Obama’s unilateral 2014 executive action that bypassed Congress.
President Obama’s controversial executive actions on immigration were challenged in the Supreme Court on Monday.
On The O’Reilly Factor Tuesday evening, host Bill O’Reilly discussed the stakes in the upcoming presidential election, and it was clear what he believes to be the primary reason the GOP needs to win – to stack the Supreme Court with conservatives.
Based on reports of arguments at the Supreme Court earlier this week, the four remaining Republican-appointed justices were critical of Obama’s actions, while the four Democratic appointees evidently were seeking to uphold his authority.
“That’s why I come, for the opportunity for the children and because it is much safer here”, the 45-year-old Garcia said in an interview with The Associated Press.
Inside the court, justices were closely divided on the subject.

President Obama said he approved DAPA because Congress has failed to improve the USA immigration system. The case was heard by an eight member court, because of absence of Justice Antonin Scalia, who died in February. He said 4 million people is a lot of people and it seems that to give them quasi-legal status should be a legislative decision, not an executive decision.
