Tequila is Anne Hathaway’s ‘beverage of choice’

Originally mooted as a vehicle for Tiny Fey and Michael Caine, writer-director Nancy Meyers’ (It’s Complicated, The Holiday) sweet and charming comedy’s success is down to the chemistry of its two leads – Hathaway (The Devil Wears Prada) and De Niro (Meet the Parents).

Are you excited for the movie? “I thought I was respectful, but when I thought of it, I really was not appreciative enough of the people that I was working with”.

While there’s no word on whether Anne ever worked up the courage to talk to Mariah – we really hope she did! He is the wise fatherfigure who slowly finagles his way into her life and warms up to the gaggle of side characters, including Ostin’s stay-at-home husband Matt (Holm) and adorable daughter. And, no, I never had a mentor like that. I have friends that are 20-years-old and I have friends that are 83-years-old and I can go see this with any of them… Meyers puts them through very human situations and struggles, and sometimes manages to ask questions about current feminist values.

What is your advice for young actors? I didn’t graduate!”The flustered actress gets even more nervous when the reporter suggests that she introduce herself”.

What experience have you had with some of your interns and how will this change going forward?

The singer recalls the things she had been through after her 14 wonderful years in the entertainment industry.

Hathaway said she feels awkward approaching people in public situations, unless it’s for a meal or for work.

I was honored and flattered that Nancy asked me to be in the movie.

“When I saw Bob in ‘Silver Linings Playbook, ‘ the next day, I sent him a script”, she said.

“I grab him by the lapels and I say, “Listen you Raging Bull“, Meyers jokes while describing how she directed De Niro in The Intern. Meyer wants to have her you-go-girl cake and savor some classic masculinity, too – the kind that suggests clean hankies are a must-carry in case there’s a crying woman nearby – and these disparate pieces just don’t fit together.
