Per Cross, Bravo is likely to remain as Barca’s No. 1 goalkeeper for La Liga in 2016-17, which would see Ter Stegen forced to continue playing only in the UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey.

Marc-Andre ter Stegen has been ruled out of the Spanish Supercopa first leg with Sevilla after spraining a knee ligament.

Ter Stegen, 24, has been linked with Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City and he has faced competition under Luis Enrique this preseason from Claudio Bravo and Jordi Masip.

Lionel Messi netted two goals as Barcelona beat Sampdoria 3-2 in the annual Joan Gamper Trophy.

German global Ter Stegen will miss Barca’s first leg Spanish Super Cup clash at Sevilla on Sunday with a knee injury, but is expected to return shortly and could be interested in a move to the Etihad Stadium in a bid to play more first-team football.
