Teresa Halbach’s Death Certificate Suggests ‘Making A Murderer’s’ Steven Avery Was Framed?

Avery was charged with Halbach’s murder November 9, and as Uproxx notes proof of death is needed to make a charge, so it would appear the paperwork was rushed in order to charge Avery. While under “Body Found, ‘ a “No” has been checked, but under “Autopsy Performed, ‘ a ‘Yes” has been checked”.

Despite not clearly stating if authorities had possession of Halbach’s body at the time the certificate was filled out, “homicide” is checked under the “manner of death” section – yet “undetermined” is written, and then crossed out, for “immediate cause” of death.

Avery’s freedom campaigners said they have uncovered Halbach’s death certificate which they claim contains anomalies to deliberately point towards the suspects.

Unfortunately, the Avery case is no work of fiction, and the 53-year-old has remained in prison since 2007, having been sentenced to life imprisonment without parole. The docu-series explores the confusing case, questioning the ethics and motivations of the heavily-involved Manitowoc County police force and speculating whether Avery and Dassey have bee falsely imprisoned.

Meanwhile, legal dream-team Jerry Buting and Dean Strang, the awesome double act that took on the force that is Ken Kratz in Avery’s initial trial, are off on tour soon.

Many important dates on the document also do not line up with the timeline of when Avery was charged as well. It was released on November 10, 2005, but the country coroner only received bone fragments day before. A portion of the documents, which positively identify the remains as Halbach’s, is dated on December 5, which was six weeks before those remains were identified on January 19.

So what does this all mean? They have both appealed their convictions. Though the dating seems questionable, there’s a chance all of this can be explained away similar to how the DNA testing was explained.

Recently, his new lawyer Kathleen Zellner has led the way, having told the press that new forensic evidence should prove her client’s innocence.
