Terminally ill ‘Star Wars’ fan passes away

Fleetwood saw the film last Thursday. On Instagram, Ridley wrote, “This one’s for you, Daniel Fleetwood!”

Opening in theaters on December 18, 2015, Star Wars: The Force Awakens is set 30 years after the events of Return of the Jedi, and features a new generation of swashbuckling heroes and shadowy villains, as well as the return of fan-favorite smugglers, princesses, and Jedi.

Daniel, 32, suffered from spindle cell sarcoma, and was told in July he only had two months to live.

At the end of October, Ashley posted on Facebook to ask for help in getting her husband’s wish granted.

Last Wednesday, movie director JJ Abrams called Daniel to inform him that his Star Wars wish would be granted. The effort received support from “Star Wars” actors Mark Hamill, Carrie Fisher, Daisy Ridley and John Boyega.

“I just read this and am elated for Daniel and his family!”

However, the problem is that we don’t know exactly when during the three-hour programming block this new The Force Awakens preview will debut.

Fleetwood was also visited by the 501st Legion’s Star Garrison, a volunteer worldwide Star Wars fanclub, who presented the avid Star Wars fan with memorabilia from the films, and who also inducted him into the club as an honorary member. “Today the wonderful Disney and Lucasfilms made his final dream come true”, Ashley wrote on November 5, “in the fantastic typical Disney way, they really do make dreams come true!”

If you don’t feel like sitting in on shows you’ve never seen before to get a few brief scraps of new footage, I’m sure they’ll pop up online moments after they air.
