Terminator 2: Judgment Day set for 3D re-release in 2017
“August 29th 1997: the day Skynet first became self-aware”. Check out the full Terminator 2 3D poster in the gallery below. Coming to theaters in 2017. With that said, when you take into account how well T2’s VFX still hold up in addition to Cameron’s past success with using 3D in Avatar, I’m hopeful this re-release will be another exception to the rule.

While he did come back past year in the critically-savaged though reasonably successful Terminator Genisys, Arnold Schwarzenegger is returning once as StudioCanal have announced an all-new 3D version of 1991’s epic Terminator 2: Judgment Day.
Studio Canal has released a poster for its upcoming 3D re-release of James Cameron’s 1991 blockbuster, which pitted Schwarzenegger’s terrifying killer robot against a new, liquid-metal assassin to determine the fate of mankind. At the time, it was the most expensive movie ever made with a budget of $102 million ($180 million when adjusted for inflation), but ended up earning $520 million worldwide and won four technical Oscars.
Below, check out the Terminator 2 3D poster. Judgment Day is returning to theaters next year, in 3D, to celebrate… uhh… its 26th anniversary? And then a 3D re-release might attract some eyeballs in North American and Europe and then the Chinese release, which would be the first release on the big screen, might pay for it.
“If you’ve never seen it, this’ll be the version you want to see and remember”.

To this day, Terminator 2 remains the highest-grossing installment of the five-film Terminator franchise, beating both the $440 million earned worldwide by last year’s Terminator: Genisys and the $150 million earned by 2003’s Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines.
