Terminator: Emilia Clarke Confirms She’s Done

Should that happen with the “Terminator” franchise – the studio did say they were “re-adjusting” rather than flat out stopping – it will have to continue without its lead star, Emilia Clarke, who took over the role of Sarah Connor after Linda Hamilton.

Talking to Coming Soon, the British actress made it clear that she was envisioning a Terminator-free future.

Here’s how you know the Terminator series is in a rut: Terminator 3: Rise of the Machines, Terminator: Salvation, and Terminator Genisys were all announced as the first film in a new trilogy, only for those direct sequels to never materialize. It’s okay. No. Uh-uh. Asked if she would ever play Sarah Connor again, her answer was straight to the point. “But I have some very different roles coming up”, she continued.

The last season of Game of Thrones saw Queen mother Cersei – played by Lena Headey – publicly shamed and forced to walk through the town naked.

“Khaleesi doesn’t laugh. She doesn’t smile”. You really can’t blame her, either, given that Terminator Genisys is the kind of movie which definitely hurt her career away from Westeros; in fact, no one involved really emerged unscathed from the critically panned disaster. There’s some very amusing moments in it… Will We Ever Get New “Terminator” Sequels?

What would you like to see next for the Terminator franchise? Earlier this year, Paramount pulled the sixth Terminator film from its 2017 release schedule.

“At Skydance, when we talk movies, we talk universes, even more than franchises”, Goldberg said about continuing the sci-fi saga across platforms.
