Terrelle Pryor steals show at Cleveland Browns training camp

Training camp tends to bring about interesting headlines to the attention of all NFL fans. “There are politics in life and different things that go on”. “We’re not going to make it easy on him”.

On the Browns’ training camp schedule compared to last year: “It’s essentially the same schedule, a few minor tweaks”.

But, as expected, Pryor has a way to go before he can be a true NFL wideout.

Cleveland receiver Terrelle Pryor catches a pass during the first day of training camp. The Browns signed Pryor, the former Ohio State star, earlier this summer and are intrigued by what he might be able to provide for a team looking for offensive playmakers. “I believe I can do it, it’s just going to take a lot of hard work”. That’s not being arrogant or cocky. “I think he will be smart about it. He will be smart about it”. We ran the conditioning test yesterday, and this is the first time I got a chance to meet Pryor, and he’s huge. Since, Pryor has been doing a cluster of wide receiver drills in a variety of locations across the country.

Pettine said, nevertheless, that there surely is distinct separation between Manziel and McCown due to the twelve years in the group of McCown. Pettine expects a big season at inside linebacker from Karlos Dansby, Craig Robertson and Chris Kirksey, and he is confident the secondary will be one of the best in the league. Pryor has all the makings to be an elite wide receiver in the NFL.

Pryor’s advantage is his 6-foot-4, 233-pound frame and a freaky amount of athletic talent.

“Nobody wants to be disrespected”, Pettine said. He’s a big role model for me. But he has some obvious things working in his favor, and if he shines in preseason, he could take this down.

“It doesn’t feel like I’m far off”, Pryor says. I think that’s where my mindset is at right now. (DB) Tramon Williams made a heck of a play on another one. There isn’t a lot of information about what exactly has changed, but everyone refers to it as his state of mind being positive, and him taking the experience a lot more seriously than before. Pryor, listed at 230, has a bit of an edge in the weight department over Moss, who weighs 210 pounds. Manziel begins camp as Cleveland’s No. 2 quarterback behind veteran Josh McCown, who went 1-10 last season starting for Tampa Bay. But I’ve worked out with Josh (Gordon) and Mike Evans and I’ve seen how they get out of their breaks. So we don’t think that it’s that big a difference between first and fourth place in the division. “It’s going to be interesting from that perspective”.

“As for, Pettine said they wants the previous Ohio quarterback to concentrate INCHES1,000 percent” on phone that was wide as camp opens.

It took all of two meetings with the press for Pettine to verbally toss a grenade into what was, on paper, a solid plan for the 2015 Browns, for Manziel and for the future of the team. But that’s why the addition of Pryor is a low-risk high-reward gamble. He’s impressive in pads, but the Browns need him to do more than look good in his uniform.

Is it the Browns’ defense lifting the entire team on its shoulders and carrying it to the playoffs? He caught everything thrown in his direction in his first practice since joining the Browns and deciding to make the conversion from quarterback to receiver. Our concern is growing and continuing to get better as a team. He’s truly a team guy.
