“I was terrified of her releasing the private tapes”, he said Friday.

He also testified that his wife was always jealous about his scenes with other women on TV especially the make out scene with Jennifer Hudson in the movie-Winnie Mandela.

He denied physically abusing Ghent during a 2010 trip to South Africa for a movie shoot.

Though she alleged Terrence grabbed her by the neck, pushed her against the bathroom wall and began strangling her, he has has insisted it was mutual combat, claiming she pepper spayed him during the fight. She has accused Howard of domestic violence several times and has an active restraining order against him.

Still to be corroborated, it is rumored that Terrance Howard’s wife threatened him she would tell people he had a Sexually Transmitted Disease (STD), reported the Daily Mail. Asked by his attorney whether he considered the payment hush money, Howard responded, “I consider it blood money”.

In his testimony, the actor said she threatened him of releasing the recordings while they were engaged.

Earlier this week, Howard’s lawyer played a 2011 recording of an emotional phone call between Howard and Ghent.

She said she had video of Howard singing naked in the bathroom and could sell it for $2 million.

Lewis informed Howard that the photo was a violation of court rules and cut the actor off when he tried to explain himself.

Howard contends the statements by Ghent amounted to extortion and that the divorce settlement should be overturned.

As of now, Howard agreed to give her $5,800 a month in spousal support along with a large percentage of his “Empire” earnings. He was also questioned about his suicide attempt in 2009.
