‘Terrible tragedy’ _ 5 dead, including gunman, in Washington

Five people are dead, including a gunman, after a shooting in rural Washington State Friday, according to the Mason County Sheriff’s Office.

The Seattle Times reported that a SWAT team later entered the man’s home and found four people dead.

Mason County Sheriff Casey Salisbury called the incident a “tragic day for everyone”, according to CBS affiliate KOMO.

Four victims confirmed and the suspect is deceased.

The newspaper quoted Mason County Sheriff Deputy Chief Ryan Spurling as saying that a man called law enforcement on Friday morning and reported that he shot two children, a woman and another person.

Officers responded to the private residence at around 10 a.m. and tried to negotiate with him before he shot himself, the sheriff’s office said. One child got away from the shooting.

Chief Deputy Ryan Spurling says they have not been able to confirm whether anyone has been shot because officers have not been inside the home. The girl was taken to the hospital to be checked out.
