Terrorists Killed As Indian Army Foils Infiltration Bids; 1 Jawan Dies
“People expect the government to do something”, said retired Gen. Ved Prakash Malik, who was the Indian Army chief during Kargil, the last major border conflict between India and Pakistan over Kashmir.

Earlier, making a statement at the session in Geneva, India called upon the Council to urge Pakistan to put an end to cross-border infiltration; dismantle the terrorism infrastructure; and stop acting as an epicentre of terrorism.
“Unfortunately we have lost one soldier there”, Col Manish Kumar said, adding there was no information about any other casualties.
An army source told IANS here that soldiers became apprehensive about a possible infiltration bid after Pakistani troops resorted to unprovoked firing using small and automatic arms to target Indian posts in Lachhipora and Boniyar villages of the border on Tuesday afternoon.
Pakistan however has flatly rejected New Delhi’s claims of Islamabad’s involvement in the Uri terror attack, saying the latter has a traditional tendency of pointing fingers on the former after each terror attack on Indian soil. “… Any Indian plan that would adequately punish Pakistan would also cross the Red Line of Pakistan’s nuclear threshold”, the Business Standard newspaper reported on September 19.
Army spokesman Manish Kumar said a number of infiltrators had been killed, but he could not confirm how many.
On the ceasefire violation incident, an army official in Srinagar said the firing from across the LoC took place between 1.10 pm and 1.30 pm. All the four fidayeen attackers were also killed. Even Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said that the perpetrators of Uri terror attack shall be punished.
Pakistan denies any role in the raid, one of the deadliest in the divided Himalayan region over which India and Pakistan have fought two of their three wars.
“Two infiltration bids by militants from across the Line of Control have been foiled in Uri and Naugam sectors today”.

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) filed a first investigation report in the Uri terror case on Tuesday, said a senior official of the agency.
