Terry Pluto Likes The Browns’ Draft Day Moves

Corey Coleman fills all three criteria. He hobbled through three games, then sat out the Bears’ bowl contest against North Carolina.

The Browns had their choice of receiver and chose Coleman over other potential top targets Laquon Treadwell and Josh Doctson. This is by one frightful draft after another, after another, after another.

Meanwhile, Houston Cougars cornerback was picked by the Cincinnati Bengals.

With that in mind, the Browns must have really like Emmanuel Ogbah, because they held onto the pick, and added the Oklahoma State defensive end to their roster. A year ago, it was receiver Kevin White. “We were happy to get him at No. 14”.

“I’ll play whatever position the Cleveland Browns want to play”, he said.

According to Brown, all four of the Browns’ picks, defensive linemen Emmanuel Ogbah and Carl Nassib, offensive lineman Shon Coleman and quarterback Cody Kessler, and their choice from Thursday, wide receiver Corey Coleman, have several common traits, including their high character on and off the field. Coleman surpassed 100 yards receiving seven times last season and totaled 20 total touchdowns, matching the Browns’ team total receiving scores for the 2015 National Football League season. He’s only 5-11. He told reporters: “If size mattered, elephants would be the king of the jungle”. They’re making big moves.

Ogbah said he’s tried to model his game after two of the game’s best pass rushers in New York Giants defensive end Michael Strahan, who was inducted into the Hall of Fame in 2014, and Osi Umenyiora, who retired two seasons ago. They will be using him across the middle and in short wide receiver screens simply to get the football in his hands.

Coleman was also unable to participate in agility drills at the NFL Combine and Auburn’s Pro Day, though he did record 22 repetitions on the bench press. This is a player who knows what it means to work to get someplace.

When asked if he expected to hear his name on Thursday night during the first round, Cook was honest with Dan Patrick. That’s the second longest active string in the country behind Alabama’s eight. The sequence encapsulated how the next decade seemed to go for the two teams.

The draft continues through Saturday.

Friday, the second day of the draft, will feature the second and third rounds, getting underway at 7 p.m.

Cleveland could come away with 12 players and stand pat with where they are now when it comes to future picks; after all, they lost numerous free agents this spring that will turn into compensatory picks in a year’s time (picks that, for the first time, can be traded, it should be noted).
