Terry praises ‘top player’ Falcao

Chelsea captain John Terry believes loanee Radamel Falcao will succeed, despite his struggles at Manchester United last season.

The Blues skipper is one of the most controversial figures in the game.

When questioned about the abuse he has received in the past from rival fans, he added: “I’m sure that if I was in their team, they (the opposing fans) would love me in their team because I’m one of those players who gives everything to the cause“.

The former England defender is considered a legend at Stamford Bridge and is adored by the home supporters, though it is very much a different story at every other ground in England.

“When we performed towards him on the Bridge in April, after about 10 minutes, I stated to Gary Cahill, “We’ve acquired to be on it immediately – he’s proper up for it”.

“But I thrive on that and try and use it in a positive way but I certainly don’t try and block it out”. “You just want to be known as a very good footballer and someone who gave their all for their club“.

“I honestly think Falcao is going to be a top, top player“, Terry said.

When he went to Man United I have to say I was a bit scared, because he’s a predator in the box and a guy who does score goals all the time.

Prior to his arrival in the Premier League, Falcao had a reputation of being something of a goal machine given his record at both Porto and Atletico Madrid – but had been recovering from a serious knee injury picked up during his first season at Monaco.

The 26-year-old is already a doubt for the Community Shield against Arsenal, as well as the opening League game with Swansea on August 8th.

“I hate losing. Everyone in the squad is the same as well so ideally we want to take fitness from the [preseason] games and prepare ourselves right but when there are trophies on the line we want to go and win it”.
