Terry ‘wants to stay’ at Chelsea
This topsy-turvy season draws to an improbable close with new champions Leicester City being given a celebratory guard of honour at Stamford Bridge.

Terry, who was serenaded by Chelsea supporters throughout, was suspended for interim boss Guus Hiddink’s final match in charge. Barely holding back the tears, and interspersed by chants of his name and “we want you to stay” Terry said: “We all want the same thing”. I want to be here for the rest of my career, we have a few days and we will be speaking to the club.
Hiddink added he was pleased Chelsea were talking with John Terry about a one-year extension – the captain told fans after the game he wanted to remain at the club and further talks would be held next week.
“Asked what Abramovich said to him, Ranieri said: “‘Welcome champions’. “He is 35 but he is physically fit and mentally fit”.
With a view to next season, Ranieri experimented with a 4-1-4-1 system against Chelsea that saw lone striker Jamie Vardy flanked by Riyad Mahrez and Demarai Gray.
However, the 69-year-old, who will be replaced by Italian Antonio Conte, also said he believes Chelsea will be atleast in the top four next season.
“We’ve lost three games this season, which is a reflection on how well we’ve done as a team. So I won’t say a crying goodbye because after the summer and autumn I will be back”.
“It won’t be easy”, the Dutchman was clear to add. “This season we are all aware what other clubs can do as well”.
Fabregas had earlier given his team the lead from the penalty spot after Nemanja Matic had been fouled in the area by Leicester substitute Jeffrey Schlupp.
Depending on where Jose Mourinho begins next season could play a part as the pair enjoyed a special bond in both the Portuguese’s spells in London but a spell at Manchester United or any other Premier League would be extraordinary given Terry’s past.
Chelsea have been criticised for the way they have dispensed with their ageing players in the past, with the likes of Frank Lampard and Ashley Cole leaving without much ceremony.

With several young players rising through the ranks and a manager who has never worked in the Premier League incoming, Terry’s experience will come in handy. It will be a very good atmosphere with good music.
