Tesco recall beef ravioli over suspected rubber

The move comes as Tesco stores in the United Kingdom and Sainsburys were also forced to issue urgent recall notices over tins of pasta which may contain pieces of rubber.

The recall refers to Tesco Beef Ravioli 400g, which has a “Best Before” date of ‘End December 2018’.

The items – manufactured by Noliko NV in Belgium – were pulled as a cautionary measure after it became apparent a small number of cans were possibly contaminated by the foreign objects.

The FSA said no other products were known to be affected by the recall.

The tinned goods affected include beef ravioli and macaroni cheese. “Instead, contact the store from where it was bought for a full refund”. The following batches are affected: LB3048 81724C, LB3049 81724C.

Point of sale notices have been issued requesting that customers who have purchased the implicated batches to return them to any of their stores. In February, Mars voluntarily pulled millions of chocolate bars produced in the Netherlands and sold globally – including in the United Kingdom – because of fears over plastic contamination.

“Tesco Ireland is recalling the above batches of its Beef Ravioli, as they may potentially contain pieces of rubber”, the FSAI said in a statement.
