Tesla claims records for e-car speed and range

That’s because the new battery not only improve the range of the Model S and X – meaning more driving distance in between charges – it’ll also supercharge acceleration performance.

Further, the company says this model has achieved an acceleration time of 0-60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds, making it the third-fastest accelerating production vehicle ever produced. The P100D with Ludicrous Mode will reach 62mph in 2.7 seconds on its way to a 155mph top speed.

Tesla has just announced a new, even faster version of its Model S electric vehicle; the P100D.

The latest high-end Tesla Model S is the third-fastest production auto ever made, as well as the fastest in production.

The new battery also extends the vehicle’s range to an estimated 315 miles, making it the first electric vehicle to go beyond 300 miles.

The cars which hold the number one and two spots-the LaFerrari and the Porsche 918 Spyder, respectively-were limited run, million dollar vehicles. The announcement was met with excitement, as shares of the company jumped about 2% after the news were published.

It’s not like this news was a secret about Tesla Motors offering a 100-kwh battery pack for two of their models.

The 2017 Tesla Model S didn’t just receive aesthetic upgrades. Existing owners must pay $20,000 because their existing batteries must be recycled.

The new battery option doesn’t come as a surprise. Without customers willing to buy the expensive Model S and X, we would be unable to fund the smaller, more affordable Model 3 development.

In his comments to reporters, Musk said a software update of the feature is nearing completion, adding that it will result in “material improvements in the autonomy of the vehicle”.
