Tesla just recalled its Model X SUV
The ones affected are those built before March 26 at the company’s plant in Fremont, California. The piece allows the seats to fold forward, and if it slipped during a crash the seats could jolt forward, the company said. Interestingly, the seat passed crash tests in the United States with flying colors, but it failed the more stringent tests that all new cars sold in Europe are put through. “It’s actually with the leverage of weight in the seat pulling it forward”. Thankfully there have not been any reports of failure while on the road and by customers, but Tesla claims that they are erring on the side of caution and recalling them just to be safe. Those sent the email were, however, encouraged to avoid using the third row for seating passengers until it’s properly serviced by Tesla technicians.

As of last week, Tesla said it had taken 276,000 orders for the Model 3 which, as its name suggests, is the third model in the start-up company’s range beneath the Model S saloon and the more recent Model X SUV.
When: Over the next five weeks. The current number of Model 3 reservations is absolutely staggering and Tesla will have no choice but to get as many Model 3s manufactured and out on the road as soon as humanly possible. Inside, the Model S will gain a seat design similar to that of the Model X, with seat ventilation added as an option. Thanks to a rear-seat issue discovered on one of its European models, the automaker is issuing a recall for almost every Model X SUV.
That article also suggested that the Model S would adopt the front seats from the Model X-which was not mentioned in today’s announcement-and that prices would increase.

Futuris will be taking responsibility for the issue, and will cover the cost of replacing the seat back. The recliner is produced by an outside supplier, and Tesla insists that those with an affected vehicle shouldn’t have anyone sit in the back of the vehicle until it can be repaired. We are now constructing new third row seat backs to match all affected vehicles. Inside, the air filtration system has been completely overhauled ― Tesla claims it is now the best system available on any auto currently in production ― while the battery’s charging time has also been improved.
