Tesla Model 3 pre-orders hit 276000, 5 times bigger than 2015
Autoblog reports that the Tesla Model X was able to deliver 2,400 units in Q1 of 2016 after a limited deliveries of 208 in Q4 of 2015 which means that the Model X was down to 2,600 deliveries in total. To his credit, Elon Musk has admitted the company may have overreached when it came to designing and building the Model X. Musk is a person who does not accept that something can not be done. The basic model will start at $35,000 and have a range of at least 215 miles per charge.

The Model 3’s starting price does not include a $7,500 federal tax credit for electric cars, but that incentive would be phased out anyway after the automaker’s domestic sales eclipsed 200,000.
“Definitely going to need to rethink production planning”, Musk tweeted. With over 30,000 reservations for the vehicle reported by the company earlier this year, the company still has a significant backlog of demand for the September-launched SUV.
“Roadster, S and X customers are the ones who got us here and are paying for 3”, Musk said in a tweet over the weekend.
Barclays expert Brian Johnson on Friday stated the heavy influx of Model 3 orders “sets the stage for an equity offering” later on this year by Tesla, much which would approach factory construction and product advancement.
The Model 3 will be the third auto from Tesla.
On the other hand, all people placing pre-orders may not necessarily purchase the vehicle. The company hopes to approach about 1,000 Model X’s a week during the second quarter.
That number shot up 50% from the sales volumes posted in the same quarter previous year, but missed the company’s own guidance of 16,000 – earlier argued by analysts as being too ambitious.
Tesla said that it is studying the problems that it encountered with the manufacturing of the Model X to ensure that the issues are not repeated for the recently unveiled Model 3. The orders reportedly accelerated to 276,000 in three days.

The preordering can be done is dozens of countries including the UK, Republic of Ireland, Brazil, India, China and New Zealand.
