Tesla Model S for Kids is available for Pre-order

Ok so maybe we’re kidding (a little), but not about the Model S. It seems that Tesla and Radio Flyer have teamed up to create a kid-sized Model S replica.

Ever since the Tesla Model S came to be, we’ve been waiting to see what kind of oddball contraptions the third-party side of the industry can produce using the electric sedan as a base. Last week, a company called Actev debuted the Arrow Kart, an extremely smart go-kart with a top speed of 12 miles per hour.

The Tesla Model S starts around $75,000, though a federal tax credit brings the price down by about 10%.

Another interesting fact is that the Model S for Kids charges in just three hours, and also utilizes swappable batteries. You can choose the paint color, performance, accessories and you can also add further personalization. These include deep blue metallic, midnight silver metallic and red multi-coat. Extras like personalized license plates, spare (or more powerful) batteries, and a Tesla-branded vehicle cover are all available, too. The wheels can also be “upgraded” for an extra $15, which should prepare kids for the future when they are buying their own cars and are looking at upgrades that cost significantly more.

However, even with those features, the Model S for Kids is a much less exciting toy compared to the Arrow, according to the experts. Radio Flyer promises the Model S will have working headlights, a sound system and a “spacious interior” (assuming you are between 3-8 and weigh under 81 lb).
