Tesla Model S P100D revealed, 0-100km/h in 2.7 seconds
The larger battery will also be available for the company’s SUV, the Model X. With the battery pack, the auto accelerates from 0 to 60 mph in 2.9 seconds and can travel up to 289 miles on a single charge.

The Model X P100D, which can seat up to seven adults, sees its range extended to 289 miles and with Ludicrous mode, it can zip from 0-60 mph in 2.9 seconds.
Electric vehicle manufacturer Tesla is to take the title of fastest-accelerating production auto in the world – with a four-door saloon and an SUV which can seat between five and seven adults and accommodate all their luggage.
If you’ve already ordered a P90D Ludicrous but have not taken delivery, you can upgrade to the 100 kWh battery for $10,000 more. It means the Model S with Ludicrous mode is the first electric vehicle to ever exceed 300 miles.
The new 100-kWh battery pack is not an upgrade that can be unlocked in the 85-kWh and 90-kWh cars, CEO Elon Musk emphasized, but a completely new pack.
Tesla has revised the Model S and added a larger battery pack which gives the auto jaw-dropping acceleration and a longer range on full charge.
Confirming recent rumors, the higher-capacity battery will allow the Model S P100D to reach an EPA-estimated 315 miles on a single charge.
On Tuesday electric carmaker Tesla revealed a new 100 kilowatt hour battery that makes its vehicles quicker than any other automobile in production anywhere in the world.
The heavier and less aerodynamic Model X P100D claims a 0-100km/h time of 3.1 seconds, and an NEDC estimated range of 542km on a fully-charged battery.
So if you’re rich and want a Tesla, please buy the new P100D so the rest of us can seriously contemplate the Model 3. It also has the ludicrous model that makes the acceleration in electric cars much smoother than average electric auto. And current owners with P90D Tesla vehicles can have their pack swapped for $20,000 at a Tesla service center.
Mr. Musk said the company will make 200 packs a week due to production constraints. But keeping in mind the fact that both of these limited production hypercars are already sold out, the Model S can indeed be termed as the fastest production vehicle now on sale.
