In a message sent to customers, the company said that during a recent internal seat strength test, the recliner in a third-row Model X seat unexpectedly slipped.

Tesla’s asking Model X owners to keep folks out of the third row until the seat backs are replaced.

In November, Tesla issued a recall on 90,000 Model S sedans after a customer in Europe complained about a faulty seat belt. To fix the issue leading to the recall, Tesla is now producing new third-row seat backs, so as to replace all the defective seats within five weeks.

The company stated it was recalling the Model Xs after the seats failed a stamina test in the European Union. Following the latest recall, TSLA shares lost their gains from the morning; they are now trading down 0.8% at $248.20, as of 1:46 PM EDT, after rising up as much 3% earlier in the day.

The Silicon Valley carmaker said that Model S luxury sedans produced starting today in its Fremont, California, assembly plant will have a new front-end design. The company has determined the failure to be a manufacturing flaw on the part of an outside supplier, Futuris – a Long Beach-based designer and builder of automobile seats. “We are now constructing new third row seat backs to match all affected vehicles”. This means that there are times when the third-row seats would “fail” and the seat would fall forward.

The Model X was unveiled last September, but Tesla only recently began to ramp up production of the model.

Therefore it’s a little odd that the Model S is set to be refreshed for 2017 with a face redesigned to look like the other two Tesla vehicles – at least that’s what the rumor is.
