Tesla has now confirmed that the Model 3 will retail for $35,000, this is before rebates and incentives which will actually bring the price of this new EV down to around $30,000.

Analysts surveyed by Thomson Reuters pegged Tesla for a loss of one cent per share for the fourth quarter. “I do think that there was some hubris there with the Model X”.

Considering the recent setbacks had in the Model X department, not excluding sales concerns and the recent legal disputes held with suppliers, Wall Street will be interested in seeing whether Tesla’s Model X is set for a positive turnout. Tesla also expects economies of scale and design improvements for the Model 3. The company posted positive 2016 guidance on Wednesday, saying it expects to deliver 80,000 to 90,000 new vehicles this year, noting it is aiming for non-GAAP profitability for the year.

Tesla in the past quarter sold just 206 of its newest vehicle, the Model X, which includes “falcon wing doors” and a panoramic windshield, with a price starting at $130,000 (roughly Rs. 88,72,000). Federal and state tax credits may knock thousands more off the purchase price in the U.S.

Musk offered few details about the upcoming Model 3 launch.

All that said, the extent of what we’ll see of the Model 3 next month is still anyone’s guess. With the fourth quarter’s revenue gains, Tesla generated about $179 million in cash from operations in the quarter even as capital spending of $411 million dragged down its cash. Signature versions of the Model S and X were put on sale and came fully loaded with the top features.

Although the company did not give any update on the progress of Model X production ramp, but announced that the crossover will soon comprise a larger share of total deliveries.
