Tesla unveils 100 kWh battery for Model X and S
Equipped with the new battery, the Model S P100D can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in just 2.5 seconds, making it the third fastest auto ever produced according to Tesla. The new 100kWh battery uses the same cell technology, but Tesla executives have teased the advancements in the battery pack technology being a leap in itself.

The company says the Model S P100D sedan can go from zero to 60 miles per hour in 2.5 seconds.
Competition is mounting in the electric-car space, as more automakers are racing to release vehicles with longer ranges.
Tesla says this also makes it the third-quickest production auto in the world, overall.
Both vehicles, however, are not cheap. This also makes the Model S P100D the electric vehicle with longest range.
Tesla Motors (TSLA) introduced new versions of its Model S and X that boosts speeds and driving range, powered by an updated battery technology, and said it’s now the fastest-accelerating auto in commercial production. Customers who have ordered a P90D but are waiting for delivery can get the 100 kWh battery instead for an extra $10,000. Model X is also a pure electric SUV and can seat up to seven adults.
The Ludicrous Mode is possible due to a 100 KwH battery that extends the range of both cars.
The upgraded Model X P100D will hit the mark in 2.9sec.
Speaking to journalists on Tuesday, Elon Musk says the firm will only be able to make around 200 of the new batteries each week, so supplies will be limited at present.
For lots of Americans, Tesla vehicles just aren’t viable at that price.

Musk adds that customers willing to pay for such high-end developments are essential to funding more affordable cars such as the forthcoming Model 3.
