Texans address Ryan Mallett release; Yates signed
Fantasy Impact: This was widely expected as Bill O’Brien tried to cut Mallett prior to the Texans Week 7 blowout against the Dolphins.

The Pittsburgh Steelers haven’t announced that Ben Roethlisberger would be under center on Sunday, but it’s looking more and more likely that he’ll be back on the field for a massive game against the Cincinnati Bengals.
That opportunity won’t be immediate, as the Giants received a two-week roster exemption to get Pierre-Paul back into playing shape. “That’s not the leadership role I need to exhibit”.
Look, I realize he has not been a very good QB thus far.
Multiple reports Tuesday indicated the Houston Texans have released Ryan Mallett, the former Razorback quarterback who was benched by the team earlier this month. Mallett missed a practice during training camp, saying he overslept and had vowed to Smith it would never happen again. “He’s 27 years old”.
Mallett then shows up the next day and is full of excuses as he talks with general manager Rick Smith. “I’m not about to [lie to]… you like that”. Mallett, who took over the starting job in Week 1, took a hard hit in the second quarter and came out of the game.
Mallett was acquired by the Texans from the New England Patriots last season for a conditional sixth or seventh pick, per Washington Post.
Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien got his wish.
Whether this has absolutely nothing to do with his dismissal or not – we literally have no idea – it’s fair to assume Ryan Mallett’s issues with control aren’t just limited to the footballs he throws.
“Ryan and I have always had a great relationship”, he added. “It’s – you hate to see that stuff because it’s not how it should be”. O’Brien was right to go back to Hoyer and that led to more pouting on the sidelines and now this missed flight.
Hoyer said he knows getting Yates ready to play will fall on his shoulders as much as the coaching staff’s. “So I won’t have any comments regarding that at this point”. Having watched that Texans-Colts game from up close, Ross KNEW that the quarterback’s time with Houston was to be short-lived. Zac Dysert is the only quarterback on Houstons practice squad.
Beginning of the end?

Mallett’s failure to join the team for the flight was said to be the last straw in a series of incidents questioning his professionalism.
