Texans C Martin likely out for season
The Houston Texans received brutal news this morning, as 2016 second-round pick and formally starting center Nick Martin will miss the 2016 after having ankle surgery.

Martin suffered the injury last week during a join practice with the New Orleans Saints. The three-year starter out of Notre Dame was known for his intelligence and toughness heading into the draft, and was expected to be Houston’s Week 1 starter against the Chicago Bears on September 11.
Martin appeared in 50 games with 37 starts in a four-year career at Notre Dame, including starting all 26 games in his last two seasons there. Houston was predicted to lead the league in rushing thanks to the improvements the team had made at the center position, as well as running back position with the edition of Lamar Miller.
While losing a potential star at the center position could be a major blow to the Texans in 2016, they boast some solid depth at the position. The question now becomes, who becomes the Texans center for the remainder of 2016?

“That’s what the organization is trying to build, an offensive line of smart, tough young guys”, Texans offensive line coach Mike Devlin said, via the Houston Chronicle. He would be able to play two weeks later.
