Texans come calling for Brock Osweiler, despite Peyton Manning’s retirement
With the NFL’s so-called “legal” tampering period open at noon ET and free agency beginning Wednesday, Houston could pose a problem for Denver, which is said to have offered $45 million to Osweiler.

Osweiler’s average annual figure would rank around 20th among National Football League starters.
A short-term deal would reduce the Broncos’ risk while also allowing Osweiler to return to free agency at 28 years old. The Texans are in desperate need of an upgrade at quarterback, and Yahoo’s Charles Robinson reported Osweiler could be a “far bigger target than anyone anticipates” for Houston.
During his seven starts for the Broncos, Osweiler went 5-2, with clutch wins over the Cincinnati Bengals and New England Patriots that ultimately secured homefield advantage through the playoffs.
The Houston Texans may be preparing to take a serious shot at signing Brock Osweiler, but other teams will at least check in. That’s when a smaller man rushes up from behind and gives the Osweiler a strong shove, sending him stumbling toward the vehicle.
The altercation in Scottsdale began about 2 a.m. Saturday, a few hours after Osweiler watched singer Kelley James perform at the Fashion-A-Ball event Friday evening at the W Hotel.
Oswelier is going to benefit from a small free-agent quarterback market, the fear of the unknown come April’s draft, and the inflation we’ve seen from quarterback contracts.
Osweiler may have been robbed of a chance at being a Super Bowl winning quarterback (yes, they would have won with him at the helm despite what Manning apologists like Tony Dungy say).

Osweiler showed promise when called upon to relieve the injured and ineffective Peyton Manning in the middle of the year. The Broncos got more than they could have hoped for from Manning’s late-career run, culminating in a championship, but the timing has the potential to backfire.
