Texans come out flat in loss to Jaguars

Jacksonville’s 22-point drumming of Houston’s defense Sunday at NRG Stadium was two parts savagery and one part growing pains.

Bolstered by a ferocious defense, a resolute effort from the offensive line, and a strong debut by rookie running back Leonard Fournette, quarterback Blake Bortles effectively managed the Jacksonville Jaguars’ 29-7 victory over the Houston Texans on Sunday.

By halftime, Campbell had 3.5 sacks – eclipsing the Jaguars’ franchise record for sacks in an entire game.

Diaz posted a statement to Twitter on Friday, saying he and his family drove 13 hours to evacuate ahead of Hurricane Irma. “For a young guy, we put a lot on him, in all facets of the offense tonight, and he was able to handle it”.

“He’s coming down because he’s well-aware of the Texans’ involvement in all of these support activities, relief activities”, McNair said about the destruction from Hurricane Harvey. Not only has Watt delivered Super Bowl aspirations to Houston in his six years with the Texans, but he has also now literally provided tangible support to help the city get back to its former lively self. He was asked to describe his play.

“Terrible”, said Watt after the game. Can’t play much worse. Tavecchio converted a pair of 52-yard field goals after hitting a 20-yarder on the second quarter’s first play.

Watt also is being honored by the NFL Players Association. If they can collapse the pocket fast, it will force Bortles to hurry his throws which could lead to turnovers or sacks which will result in loss of yards. The Texans suffered 13-0 loss to the Saints in Week 3 National Football League preseason game.

Jason Myers kicked a pair of field goals in the first half to open the scoring for Jacksonville in the first half and Fournette scored with a one-yard plunge up the middle late in the second quarter. The Texans lost LB Brian Cushing, WR Bruce Ellington and TEs C.J. Fiedorowicz and Ryan Griffin to concussions.

The Jaguars could be without star receiver Allen Robinson for the foreseeable future after he left the game in the first quarter with a non-contact knee injury.

Houston cornerback Johnathan Joseph on what went wrong: “Just got punched in the mouth today.no other words can describe it”.

Malik Jackson shook his head several times as he tried to come up with the last Jacksonville Jaguars player to record double-digit sacks in a season.

The Texans (9-7 in 2016) captured the AFC South title despite benching one quarterback – Brock Osweiler – and going with Tom Savage, who hadn’t started in a regular season game in his career. “He took them down on that first drive and got a couple of lucky breaks, to be honest, and then we went to the sidelines, recomposed ourselves and then came out and handled business”. “But it doesn’t mean anything if you don’t continue with it”.
