Texans owner Bob McNair’s anti-HERO donation stokes debate
All’s truthful in love and native politics, we presume, though a marketing crusade of fear-mongering & false claims against Houston’s equal rights ordinance is unworthy of this city.

Bob McNair has been the Texans’ owner since their inception in 2002.
But for months now, opponents have been touting the long-disproven myth that it will allow male predators into women’s restrooms and lockers.
“They know discrimination is bad for business and bad for the city’s image”. Group members are fighting against the ordinance which they’ve dubbed “the bathroom ordinance”, saying it will allow men to use women’s restrooms. “With a $10,000 donation, he and Major League Baseball’s Lance Berkman helped put to rest the notion that high-profile Texans all line-up behind the ordinance”. “I played professional baseball for 15 years, but my family is more important”, the six-time All-Star says in the spot.
HRC is proud to join the ACLU of Texas, Equality Texas and Texas Freedom Network as founding partners of the Houston Unites coalition and to work with leaders in the community to protect HERO with a “YES” vote on Houston Proposition 1 on November 3.
The ordinance would prohibit discrimination of any kind based on sex, race, ethnicity, gender, nationality, age, martial status, religion, disability, sexual orientation or gender identity.
A group opposed to the Houston Equal Rights Ordinance just got a few big support.
Houston’s mayor Annise Parker has warned that repealing the law could impact the city’s economy and might even go so far as to jeopardize the 2017 Super Bowl, which the city is slated to host.
