Texans Release Quarterback Who Missed Team Flight To Dolphins Game
The Houston Texans released quarterback Ryan Mallett in the middle of the season after he missed the team’s flight to Florida last Sunday when they faced the Miami Dolphins for a Week 7 match.

According to the Houston Chronicle’s Brian T. Smith, O’Brien wanted to cut Mallett on Sunday, but was overruled by Texans GM Rick Smith.
The Texans’ coach was Mallett’s offensive coordinator in New England where he was drafted.
Mallett’s attitude has been a subject of discussion over the last several weeks, especially when he was benched in favor of Brian Hoyer during Houston’s loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 5.
If O’Brien had had his way, Mallett would’ve been available over the weekend. In fact, it looks pretty terrible.
They stayed with him after he missed a practice (saying he overslept), two days after Hoyer initially won the starting job. “It’s a partnership. Decisions are made by the two of us”, O’Brien said.
Before Houston Texans head coach Bill O’Brien was asked about his relationship with general manager Rick Smith after practice Wednesday, he brought up the controversial subject. But considering everything that has happened already this season, many are going to have a hard time giving Mallett the benefit of the doubt.
Pierre-Paul, 26, was given the OK to play by team doctors. For Pierre-Paul, he’s just thrilled to get that opportunity to help them any way he can. “Got to be on time”. Something the Giants defensive end explains he’s been working on while away from the team. “I’m getting ready to do what I have to do”. The Texans serve as a means for us to escape the boring monotony of our lives for a few hours a day. Because of this, we, as Texans fans, have to glean alternative forms of entertainment from this team.
ROETHLISBERGER TO PLAY: Ben Roethlisberger is back for the Steelers. A team official had to go wake him up in his hotel room.
That’s how very bad Michael Vick is. We look at the snap counts for all the players on offense this afternoon. In that time, we get to see athletes in peak physical condition (and whatever the hell Vince Wilfork is) perform feats of skill and strength that we normal folk can only dream of doing.
The Ravens say they had trouble with their headsets throughout the game, and it was really bad on the final drive.

“I have to be there to give him the answers, because he’s going to have a lot of questions”, Hoyer. Oddly enough, Yates’ finest moment as a Texan came in the regular season division clinching game against the Bengals in Cincinnati, leading the team on a long drive in the waning moments to secure a 20-19 win.
