Texans to release quarterback Brian Hoyer
The Houston Texans have cut ties with their primary starting quarterback from 2015, according to multiple reports Sunday.

The Texans now have Osweiler, Whedon, Tom Savage and B.J. Daniels on the roster at quarterback.
Hoyer will become a free-agent and will be able to sign with any team he wishes. The Denver Broncos and New York Jets might have interest in his services now that he will be a free agent. Though Hoyer was inconsistent as Houston’s starter last season, he has plenty of potential destinations due to his experience. Ryan Fitzpatrick is regarded as the best remaining quarterback available, although it’s expected at some point that Fitzpatrick and the New York Jets will come to an agreement.
He struggled in the AFC wildcard game against the Kansas City Chiefs, throwing four interceptions and recording just 136 yards through the air in a 30-0 loss. He has a 15-11 career record, most of his starts coming with the Texans and Cleveland Browns, and has passed for 7,163 yards, 38 touchdowns and 26 interceptions.
After signing Brock Osweiler and re-signing Brandon Weeden at the beginning of April, the Houston Texans have told quarterback Brian Hoyer that they will release him, a source told ESPN’s Adam Caplan.

Houston has no adverse cap impact associated with cutting Hoyer, who signed a two-year, $10.5 million contract with the Texans prior to the 2015 season.
