Texans to release running back Arian Foster: 5 things to know
Foster concludes his time in Texas having clocked up more rushing yards (6,472) and touchdowns (54) than any other back to have played for the team but his injury record made him a risky bet for the 2016 season.

Fantasy Impact: Arian Foster’s release comes as expected though it was rumored to have nothing to do with the money aspect of Foster, however, stability at the running back position for Houston could have played a role in the transaction. By releasing him, the Texans save around $6.6 million, according to ESPN Stats & Information.
The 29-year-old Foster was due a $6.5 million base salary with a salary-cap number of nearly $9 million for the 2016 season.
Foster has had an up-and-down career with the Texans, though the downs primarily hinge on various injuries over the years.
“There are not many players I respect more than Arian Foster”, Texans general manager Rick Smith said in a statement. And that appears to be the case as Foster has had three big surgeries (back, groin and achilles) over the last few seasons.

Smith predicted Foster would bounce back next season, but never indicated that comeback would necessarily unfold with the Texans. A four-time Pro Bowler, Foster exceeded 1,200 yards four times.
