Texans unsure which Patriots QB they’ll face Thursday night
Both the silliness and durability of the debate derive from its unanswerable nature.

Brady is out until Week 5 because of a four-game suspension by the NFL. It sparks instant, endless opinion, enough for a couple guys from Quincy to argue it over far more than a couple Harpoons.
This summer, the Dolphins tried to replace Miller by taking a chance on free-agent Foster, a four-time Pro Bowler for the Texans who hadn’t played a full season since 2012 and had gotten on the field for only four games a year ago. So in the world of hypotheticals, if the Patriots were looking to trade Tom Brady, where would he land.
I guess when you win as much as Belichick has in New England you can carry yourself however you please. The NFL meant to punish the Patriots with its suspension of Brady. Unfortunately, the pass was intercepted rather than completed and the Dolphins fell to 0-2 on the season. But Duron Harmon intercepted Tannehill’s pass in the back of the end zone with two seconds remaining. Jimmy Garoppolo handled the starting job well but his sprained AC joint would not let him play on Thursday.
The play explained why the Patriots had to hold on for dear life. He’s in here early, stays late, studies the game.
Jacoby Brissett, the Post’s 2010 offensive player of the year, will make his first National Football League start on Thursday against the Houston Texans. For the rest of the game, the Patriots didn’t score. They haven’t given up many.
It’s uncertain if Garoppolo will be able to play Thursday, but it looks unlikely, meaning Brissett may be thrown into the fire to start against one of the best pass rushes in the NFL. Unfortunately, the injury may make it tough to find a new quarterback should Bill decide Brissett isn’t fit. That season ended with a stunning Super Bowl title.
Brady, for one, thinks everything is fine. Coach Bill Belichick thrives in these situations. However, after seeing how Brisset played during the recent game, it seems the Patriots would need a more seasoned QB if they want to win against the Texans at Thursday’s game.
It will fall on Belichick, which for the Patriots should be nothing but comforting. Garopplllo will head back to the bench, that’s a given but what will the Patriots do when their phone starts ringing with offers for their backup? Once Brady comes back, the Patriots can then move him to the No. 2 spot or the No. 3, depending on Garoppolo’s recovery.
“We would have done what we thought is best”, Belichick responded to whether or not Edelman would have been the backup for Brissett.

The Patriots knew headed into the draft they would have to play the first four games without Brady, who has led them to four Super Bowl titles. But we now know that O’Brien was actually kidding. We have learned Belichick can win without Brady.
