Texans’ Watt expected to play Week 1

Less than two months after undergoing back surgery, J.J. Watt is expected to play in next Sunday’s opener vs.

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt has amazed us several times throughout his career on and off the football field, and he’s done it once again.

According to SportsRadio 610’s John McClain, defensive end J.J. Watt has passed his physical and will be at practice on Monday.

Although Watt is yet to return to practice, O’Brien said he’s trending in the right direction, which bodes well for his availability ahead of next Sunday’s regular season kickoff against the Bears. Greg Mancz, second-year player who appeared in three games last season, took over on line that could also be without veteran LT Duane Brown (quadriceps surgery in January) when season begins. I don’t plan on missing my first game now, but I can’t promise it. “So I’m just trying to keep that going and I think I’ll be out there pretty soon”. On Friday, O’Brien said he did not have an update on Brown. “That’s something I don’t want to rush on”.
