Texas A&M coach apologizes for tweets about recruit’s decommitment

Texas A&M assistant Aaron Moorehead apologized for a series of tweets about loyalty and accountability he posted soon after a highly-recruited quarterback announced he was breaking his commitment to the Aggies. Later that night 5-star receiver Tyjon Lindsey, an Aggie recruit, tweeted that he was no longer considering Texas A&M.

Netherly’s apparent backing out of his pledge came on the heels of five-star quarterback Tate Martell from Las Vegas doing the same only a short time earlier on Wednesday night. I for one hope that Texas A&M’s program is garbage over the next few years. “He’s taken responsibility for his actions and then we’ll move on from there”.

Martell rescinding his verbal commitment was a major hit for Texas A&M and the Twitter comments from the school’s receivers coach poured jet fuel on a dumpster fire. I can’t even vibe with you. Just six minutes after Martell made his announcement, Moorehead sent out a tweet of his own.

Bishop Gorman quarterback Tate Martell, Scout’s No. 1 rated signal caller, blew up twitter on Wednesday when he de-committed from Texas A&M.

There is a reason Saban muzzles his assistants and all we see from his assistants on social media are self-congratulatory PR and Lane Kiffin’s Bitmoji performance art.

So now, not only are the Aggies down the top dual-threat quarterback in the 2017 class, but they are also now down a blue-chip wide receiver and don’t have a shot at another four-star wideout.

It was different with Mazzone with the whole communication. They could become a package deal, but as of right now I wouldn’t read too closely into it. Martell could become the next OR quarterback and this is just the first step.

“I was made aware of it, and I have addressed it with Aaron”, Sumlin said.

“I need to do better”, Moorehead said on Twitter, “& I will”.

“I’m trying to be patient”, Freeze said. That’s a discussion that’s going to take place further.

Malzahn’s Tigers, incidentally, open this year against Clemson, which lost 45-40 to Alabama in last season’s national championship game.
