Texas AD Perrin says Strong to be evaluated after next game
It’ll take a $10.7 million buyout to remove Strong of his duties as he is in year three of a five-year contract.

After a loss to Big 12 doormat Kansas on Saturday dropped Strong to 16-20 in three years and 5-6 this season, Strong’s fate was clear-cut. Central time, Strong said. Strong says his job status will be evaluated after the schools last regular season game at home this Friday against TCU. “I don’t know how they will be thinking, but winning that game would help”.
“University of Texas officials have chose to fire football coach Charlie Strong, however the official announcement may not come until Monday, a high-ranking university source told the American-Statesman”.
I suspect that’s a by-product of when college players try too hard and are trying to make too many things happen. Greg has been up front. “[People talk] about wins and losses, that’s fine and dandy, but I think the maturity and growth of a young man coming from different situations speaks value”. “We’re a family in there”, Buechele said, before adding of Strong: “We’re going to fight for him this next game”. He mentioned that when he met with the team Sunday, some of the players reacted with a “what are you doing here?” look.
The Longhorns didn’t show up at Kansas, showed up for a press conference and are threatening not to show up for TCU. The Jayhawks’ only win in almost two seasons under coach David Beaty was against lower-level Rhode Island in the season opener, and the Longhorns had handled them in their last 13 meetings. They know how important a win would be for Strong and for his senior class clinching a bowl bid. It seems like it’s worse for the team, for Charlie Strong to be taking all these questions about being fired while they have a game on Friday.
Several players have come to Strong’s defense on social media, pointing out his impact off the field stretches further than wins and losses.
When asked about the rumors and what Strong has meant to him, senior defensive tackle Paul Boyette Jr. lost control of his emotions Monday. That’s not going to happen. At least then he and his players could relax and enjoy what might be their final game together on Friday.
“Next year, I want to come back”, Strong said, via the Austin American-Statesman. “Also, there’s the overall development of a young man.Young people today, if you look at society, there’s no discipline”.
Sad to see Strong get fired.
With the foundation set, he believes the program is headed in the right direction.
“No, I don’t. No idea”, Strong said. We’ve allowed money to take over the game and that wasn’t the intent. “But he has the support of the people who matter – the players”.
What we’re watching play out at Bellmont is happening at other schools in the Big 12. “My biggest concern, the academic side, that’s where the struggles most of the players have. Yeah, I have issues with that”.

“I told them yesterday, this group of guys will win a national championship”. “I stand by that statement”.
