College football fans were treated to a insane back-and-forth battle on Sunday night in Austin. The Fighting Irish, however, had completely different plans.

Senior quarterback Tyrone Swoopes stole the show as he led the unranked Longhorns to a 50-47 double-overtime victory over No. 10 Notre Dame Sunday night in front of a school-record 102,315 fans at Darrell K. Royal Texas Memorial Stadium.
Notre Dame’s Shaun Crawford turned what would have been a three-point Irish deficit into a tie score when he returned a blocked point-after attempt 98 yards with 3:29 left in regulation.
Overall, this was an awesome game. After one game, he may have accomplished that. We were all witnesses, and it was a blast.
Texas 14, Notre Dame 7 (7:13) – Freshman Shane Buechele, who fired a TD pass tonight on the first drive of his career, scores on a QB sneak as Notre Dame’s defense was trying to get set.
Last year’s quarterback, Jerrod Heard, was moved to wide receiver this year. Brown scored a brilliant touchdown to match his brilliant name.
Kizer, a veteran who led the Irish to a last-minute victory at Virginia previous year, completed a 17-yard touchdown pass to Josh Adams with 10:57 left in the fourth for a 35-31 lead.
Notre Dame quarterback Malik Zaire runs from Texas linebacker Naashon Hughes, right, during the second half of an NCAA college football game, Sunday, Sept. 4, 2016, in Austin, Texas. Elliott wasn’t penalized for targeting (or anything else) on the play, even though that’s something officials can now determine via video review.
Notre Dame 14, Texas 14 (3:44) – If anybody questioned who would emerge as a receiving target among the inexperienced group, then that’s being answered so far by St.
It’s hard to overstate how important this is for Texas.
“I just wanted the chance, and I knew a touchdown would win it, and everybody worked together to make it happen”, Swoopes said. Working under duress from a swarming Texas rush, he found Josh Adams out of the backfield on an arching, 17-yard scoring toss that gave Notre Dame a 35-31 lead with 10:57 to play.
Kizer completed 15 of 24 passes for 215 yards and rushed for 77 yards and a touchdown.

“He’s 260 pounds and runs big”, said Notre Dame defensive lineman Isaac Rochell.
