Texas got a few freaky flash flooding in time for Halloween

The Blanco River this time swelled to about 26 feet in Wimberley, almost twice the flood stage. The person’s identity, including gender, is not being released pending notification of family members.

The winds ultimately ripped the door off the building and damaged windows, but no one inside was injured, Veliz said.

No fatalities have been reported from Friday’s storm as emergency personnel across South and Central Texas rushed to close roadways overwhelmed by water and respond to high-water rescues.

The storms and suspected tornadoes have socked an already-sodden swath of Texas that was still drying out from the remnants of Hurricane Patricia, forcing evacuations of flood-prone areas and slowing or shutting down traffic on stretches of Interstate 35.

Guadalupe County sheriff’s Capt. Tom Meeley said a few houses and buildings between Seguin and Zorn lost their roofs.
