Few states have defunded Planned Parenthood in the wake of a series of damaging undercover videos, even though Republicans-who tend to be pro-life-control the governorship and legislature in more than 20 states.

In an interview Saturday with The Texas Tribune, Stuart Bowen Jr., head of the Office of Inspector General at the Texas Health and Human Services Commission, said the “notice of termination” sent to Planned Parenthood last week is the start of a civil enforcement process – and not a final determination of the organization’s status as a Medicaid provider in Texas.
How would the cuts affect Planned Parenthood operations in the state? The administration has threatened litigation against states that terminate Medicaid contracts. Boehner said the panel will be given “subpoena power” in all its activities and necessary actions to be taken for the cause of halting the abortion for baby parts. “We knew they would ask for time and were happy to give it to them”, he said.
Though these reporters repeat the claim that the tapes have been deceptively edited, none of the 15 contacted this week by the Washington Examiner’s media desk would say if they’ve actually watched all of the footage, and only one responded directly to inquiries. “We in the pro-life movement have to continue to work this process with patience, perseverance and political wisdom, as long as it takes, to defund Planned Parenthood”.

Interestingly, though, as a result of publicity about the videos, Planned Parenthood officials say there has been an increase in the number of abortion patients wanting to donate tissue. “It’s something we use every single day”.
The latest vote comes in the aftermath of 10 videos by The Center for Medical Progress, which detail Planned Parenthood and the abortion industry’s role in the trafficking of fetal body parts. In an effort to end the scandal, the organization announced it no longer would accept “reimbursement” for “reasonable expenses related to tissue donation”. “I am confident that these investigators will find enough information to not only continue to defund Planned Parenthood in our state, but to also disqualify them from any future funding efforts”, Johnson told LifeSiteNews today.
The Planned Parenthood clinic in Appleton, in northeastern Wisconsin is suspending abortions. None of those clinics provided abortions.
Utah Gov. Gary Herbert ordered that his state stop acting as an “intermediary” for “pass-through federal funds” for Planned Parenthood.
A spokesman for Abbott said the Republican governor also proposed the LIFE Initiative, a combination of legislation and executive action. He also would expand adoption services.
Planned Parenthood has more than 700 clinics across the country, a far cry lower than the 9,000 clinics that don’t provide abortions. Three days later, Planned Parenthood filed a motion requesting class-action certification so the suit could be expanded to include as plaintiffs all Medicaid patients who obtain or will obtain services from the nonprofit health-care provider in Arkansas.
