Texas lawyer files federal lawsuit against Ted Cruz over his Canadian birth

Peter King says presidential candidate Ted Cruz is a hypocrite and a fraud for attacking Donald Trump’s “New York values” and called Cruz’s comments a “cheap appeal to the people of Iowa”. Trump did get a word in edgewise, however, in standing up for NY conservatives. And we rebuilt downtown Manhattan, and everybody in the world watched, and everybody in the world loved NY and loved New Yorkers, and I have to tell you, that was a very insulting statement that Ted made. I don’t know any other city in the country or region that could have responded the way NY did to 9/11.

“I don’t see how anyone from NY can give Cruz money, I really don’t”, he said.

Asked if Cruz was making a subtle ethnic dig with his “New York values” comment, Trump said he didn’t know, adding, “probably you would have to ask him”.

Cruz said, “it’s been an interesting 24 hours, where Donald Trump, and [New York Governor] Andrew Cuomo (D), and New York Mayor Bill de Blasio (D), and Hillary Clinton, have all demanded an apology because, apparently, they’re unhappy about people acknowledging that they have embraced New York values”.

Schwartz cites legal theorists, including Harvard law professor Laurence Tribe, who say while Cruz is generally accepted to be a natural-born citizen, no court has definitively ruled on the question. “I apologize to the millions of New Yorkers who have been let down by the liberal politicians in that state”. “If he displays the type of prejudice he did against New Yorkers, I don’t think he’s fit for the office”. And the people in NY fought and fought and fought, and we saw more death, and even the smell of death.

So, among much else that could be said, I think Marco Rubio had an excellent night.

Another values-driven issue also featured prominently: immigration and asylum for Muslim refugees in the U.S. Jeb Bush called Donald Trump’s proposal to ban all Muslim foreigners from the country, “unhinged”, providing a viral social media moment.

The lawsuit takes issue with Cruz’s right to become president of the United States because he was born in Canada.

Cruz, who tried to stay focused Friday on his appeals to conservatives as he campaigned in SC, brushed off Trump’s remarks about his Canadian birth.

Cuccinelli: Social liberalism, and a pushy version of it, and I think that’s sort of an expectation in the political arena, that’s what we understand.
