Texas senator Dan Patrick endorses Ted Cruz
Bush rallied with his family, which includes two former presidents in his father and brother, and donors in Houston over the weekend to burnish the campaign. However, his campaign has seen momentum in Iowa with a Des Moines Register/Bloomberg Politics poll showing him in double digits and 10 percentage-points behind Carson and Trump.

Calling it “an important morning in the Republican presidential campaign”, Cruz convened Patrick and two other statewide officials at his campaign headquarters here to announce their support as well as that of a half-dozen major donors to former Gov. Rick Perry. “What we’re seeing happening in this race is very encouraging”. We’re seeing conservatives uniting behind this campaign.
Cruz has had strong support in Texas, but is not dominating the race in the state.
“I think this state continues to respect the Bush family”, Cruz said.
Yet on Saturday, Cruz said that Trump will not win the Republican nomination.
Mosbacher, whose late husband Robert Mosbacher served as commerce secretary under George H.W. Bush, considers herself more of an “establishment type”.
Cruz also has super PACs working on his behalf.
The senator is a different person in private fundraisers than out on the campaign trail, according to people who have observed the dynamic.
Cruz called his own fundraising “astonishing” and said it’s “positively nuts” that he’s in a few ways in a stronger financial position than Bush. “$13.8 million in the bank, $3.5 million more than the Jeb Bush campaign”.
Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick was formally introduced as the Texas Chairman of Senator Ted Cruz’s presidential campaign on Monday.
“This is yet another indication of conservatives coming together and of Texans coming together”, Cruz said.
Cruz’s new endorsements bolster his strength in Texas before it conducts its GOP presidential primary on March 1. Cruz gave Senate campaign staffers a copy of “The Audacity to Win”, a book penned by Obama’s 2008 campaign manager, David Plouffe.

“Our party has been asleep for more than eight years come election time against the Democrats”, the lieutenant governor said. “We hope and believe Super Tuesday is going to be a very, very good day for our presidential campaign”.
