Relatives of the family questioned why it took authorities four visits and repeated 911 calls before going inside the house on August 8.

8 people, including six children were killed in Houston earlier this month. The La Crosse Tribune reports about 30 members of Bikers Against Child Abuse stood guard outside the church.

The victims were Valerie Jackson, 40, her husband Dwayne Jackson, and six of her children. They also formed a human wall at the cemetery to shield the burial.

Conley is jailed in Texas on charges of capital murder in the shootings. The victims include Nathaniel, who was 13; Honesty, 11; Dwayne, 10; Caleb, 9; Trinity, 7; and Jonah, 6. Authorities say Nathaniel was Conley’s son from his relationship with Valerie Jackson, while the Jacksons were the parents of the other five children.

The Jackson’s spent time in La Crosse, but the family is being buried in the La Crescent area because the family’s one remaining sibling lives there.

Following the funeral service, a lengthy procession drove slowly from the church through La Crescent to a cemetery just west of town where the eight victims were laid to rest.

Nelson said the motorcyclists would be there to give the grieving family some measure of privacy.
