Texas Union: Black Lives Matter Kills Cops

The Black Lives Matter movement, facing a continued onslaught of opposition from conservative and reactionary forces in the United States, has more than 100,000 people wanting to classify it as a terrorist organization in a petition.

He said he wasn’t sure how many people might show up to demonstrations scheduled for Friday night on the Las Vegas Strip and Saturday in downtown.

But rhetoric on both sides shows how hard that has already become: Just in the past week, a white Detroit police detective was demoted after calling Black Lives Matter activists “racists” and “terrorists”. During an appearance on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday, July 10, 2016, Giuliani said saying the term “black lives matter” is “inherently racist”.

What sets Black Lives Matter apart from other social justice groups, however, is its decentralized approach and reliance nearly exclusively on local, rather than national, leadership. However, Black Lives Matter has no chapter in Dallas, according to the group’s website.

The presumptive Republican nominee predicts that protests against police violence which followed the fatal shooting of five police officers in Dallas last week “might be just the beginning for this summer”. A relative of the man who was shot said the two had been arguing on Facebook about the Black Lives Matter movement.

Black Lives Matter was founded by Patrisse Cullors, Alicia Garza, and Opal Tometi as both a hashtag and a political project after the acquittal of George Zimmerman in the 2012 killing of Trayvon Martin. “If we actually want people to be protected and served by the police, then we actually have to push for that”.

He linked to a news article about a Black Lives Matter supporter – not a member of the organization itself – who has been accused of killing a state trooper in Kentucky. “And it pits two equally important interests against each other that weren’t against each other”. (They also reveal that whites tend to be killed by whites.) This observation does not speak to the matter of racist policing and police brutality.

“It always feels like in America. if you take a stand for something, you automatically are against something else. Essentially, it just means ‘black lives matter, too'”.

“It’s this either-or proposition”, said Ross, who is black.
