3 Chinese nationals have been killed and at least 15 more injured in a bomb that exploded at about 7pm on Monday evening at Bangkok’s Erawan Shrine.

Japan, Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, the Maldives, Oman, the Philippines and Singapore all had one or more nationals wounded.
“The Thai government expresses its deep condolences to the victims and families of the blast, in which an improvised explosive device went off at the Rachaprasong intersection in Bangkok about 7 p.m. (local time)” on Monday, Xinhua quoted the ministry as saying.
‘My thoughts are with the victims, their families and loved ones, and with the Thai people‘.
The suspect is shown in video footage carefully and deliberately removing his backpack inside the shrine, getting up without it and immediately leaving the scene.
Heartfelt tributes are being paid to a London student who was killed in a devastating bomb attack in the centre of Bangkok.
Richard Stanley’s son Benjamin, a pupil at Hallam Fields Junior School, was with his mother Joy in the Thailand capital visiting tourist attractions in the days leading up the attack. They say the suspect could be Thai, or a foreigner.
Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha earlier said the suspect was seen on closed-circuit television footage near the site of a bomb blast.
Meanwhile, an unidentified man threw a small explosive from a ferry pier often used by tourists in central Bangkok Tuesday, but it fell into water and caused no injuries, police said, according to Reuters.
11 foreigners were killed in the attack which included five Chinese, an Indonesian, four Malaysians and one Singaporean.
“The yellow shirt guy is not just the suspect”, police Lt Gen Prawut Thavornsiri said today.
Built in 1956, the Erawan is an enormously popular shrine to the Hindu god Brahma but is visited by thousands of Buddhist devotees every day.
The video, taken from cameras near the glittering shrine in the city’s bustling commercial hub, shows the young man in a bright yellow T-shirt with an indiscernible motif and shorts.
The northeast region is a stronghold of the so-called “Red Shirt” movement, which opposes the military junta and remains loyal to ex-Prime Minister Yingluck Shinawatra, who was toppled in a coup past year.

No-one has yet claimed responsibility for the bombing, which bears none of the hallmarks of the Muslim separatists who have been fighting a long insurgency in the south of the country and who have not tended to target the capital.
