The event offers the opportunity to register for the Thanksgiving holiday run and avoid long lines on race day, as well as the chance to pick up race packets.
Day-of-race entry is $15; the race kicks of at 8:30 a.m. from the Wilbraham United Church at 500 Main St. Runners are asked to bring a canned food item to benefit the church’s food pantry. Awards will be given to the top male and female finisher, along with top male and female finishers by age group.
To the north, a similar, but much younger Turkey Trot takes place in Saratoga Springs.
“This is not something I imagined would happen”, Woo said Wednesday after filing a report with the San Francisco Police Department and taking stock of the remaining race items he had stored in his garage.
Three elementary school students will serve as grand marshals after winning an essay contest.
The 5K begins at 9 a.m. and the Kids’ Fun Run starts at 8:30 a.m. Late registration will continue at Racquet and Jog until race morning.
The Y in Central Maryland has before and after school enrichment programs at a number of local schools, and this is the first year a couple of them are offering a Turkey Trot training course of sorts.

Many runners get in costume for the races, downtown businesses stay open, and the atmosphere is always lively.
