Thanksgiving travel: What to expect

In the Philadelphia region, AAA Mid-Atlantic estimates that more than 542,000 people in the city and its Pennsylvania suburbs will travel at least 50 miles for the holiday this year, a 1.4-percent increase from 2014 and the most travelers since 2007. But then pack a lot of patients, because it will be easy to getting through Columbus to get into Atlanta.

Passengers can expect tighter security and longer lines to check-in, according to Tyler-Pounds Regional Airport Manager Davis Dickson.

On those days, the airport could see 21,000 passengers each day – about 2,000 more than an average day.

The updated travel alert was issued following threats from terrorist groups such as ISIS, Al-Qaeda, and Boko Haram.

“During the holiday season the flight schedules are limited”.
