Only four out of the last 15 winners of best picture drama went on to win the Oscar (“12 Years a Slave”, “Argo”, “Slumdog Millionaire”, “Gladiator”) and only two of the last 15 have won it after scoring best picture comedy or musical (“The Artist” and “Chicago”). “Yeah, you gon’ give me a little more time”. Veteran actress Maura Tierney was the same, winning best supporting actress-drama for The Affair.

Sometimes the Golden Globes really do recognize good work, and America Ferrera and Eva Longoria can have fun calling out Hollywood’s institutional racism, and Jennifer Lawrence and Amy Schumer can goof around for a few minutes onstage and it feels like the world is a nicer place.
