A fisherman from Puerto Princesa, a coastal city on Palawan Island in the Philippines, has revealed what could be the largest natural pearl in the world.

The fisherman discovered the pearl when the anchor on his boat got caught on a giant clam over a decade ago.

According a report in the local Palawan News, a man from Puerto Princesa, on Palawan Island, found it more than a decade ago while out fishing.

The worth of the pearl is around Dollars 100 million, it is 34 kg in weight with the height and width of 2.2ft and 1ft respectively.

It was discovered almost a decade ago by the local fisherman but was kept hidden under his bed as a good luck charm until recently. She’s now asking for gemologists to help test the pearl’s authenticity.

WHAT would you do if you discovered a pearl worth millions of dollars? He was unaware of the true value of this pearl which is why he kept it as good luck charm to his family.

The pearl measures 30 x 60 cm (12 x 24 inches) and weighs 34 kg, or just under 75 pounds. The mayor asked to display the pearl in the New Green City Hall in the city.

It would not be the first time giant pearls have been found off Palawan. Interestingly, the current record title holder for the world’s largest pearl, which is called The Pearl of Allah, was also found off Palawan, Philippines in 1934.

The giant pearl is not the ideal spherical shape you might be picturing but instead a huge, misshapen blob, albeit one that’s valued at about a hundred million dollars.

The family hid the pearl in a bag under a bed, rubbing it with their hands before going out to sea in the belief it would bring them luck, she said. Palawan has always been known as an island with handsome scenery and a diverse array of marine life.
