The 23 Jump Street/Men In Black Movie Is Actually Happening
One of the more unusual movie ideas that was leaked during the 2014 terrorist hack on Sony Pictures was for a 23 Jump Street Men in Black crossover movie. By combining the two, Sony hopes to keep the movies alive. Although JUMP STREET directors Phil Lord and Chris Miller have their hands full with a Han Solo project for Disney, director James Bobin is in early talks to helm the crossover, which is potentially slated to begin production in June.

However, the news of combining comedy sequels under one branch seemed to fade away with reports previous year of Sony looking to reboot Men in Black sans Will Smith. However, given the tone and tenor of the previous raunchy and R-rated Jump Street movies, it is unlikely that this is a Men in Black movie that’s targeting the same exact audience as the previous trilogy. Jump Street stars Jonah Hill and Channing Tatum will produce and return as detectives Jenko and Schmidt. Regardless, plot details are being kept a secret for now. Neither Will Smith nor Tommy Lee Jones will be appearing in the thus-far unnamed film, and it’s likely that two less famous and younger performers will snag the Men In Black roles. Of course, on top of being action packed, they’d need to make sure the movie’s jokes are strong, as both franchises lean heavily on humor.

While there was criticism over social media about the idea, Sony still chose to move forward with it, setting Rodney Rothman to pen the script. Sources now say Rothman has delivered the script and the studio is pleased with it.
