The Altwork Station Lets You Lie Down At Your Desk

Standing or sitting while working, which one is better in terms of health? The debate seems like it’ll last for a long time before anyone concludes anything, not to mention there is no definite proof which one is more conducive to good health.

“We designed the Altwork Station as a tool for professionals who use a computer all day”, said Che Voigt, CEO and a founder of Altwork.

California startup Altwork is pulling back the curtain on its high-tech workstation, which will “physically conform to the needs of humans in the workplace”. The positions are configurable with buttons on the desk that set the system in four main postures: standing, collaboration, regular and focus. “The Altwork Station allows the people who are developing and designing our future to seamlessly sit, stand, collaborate, and focus at the push of a button, so they can work smarter and more efficiently”.

Nothing will fall on your face while you’re reclined because Altwork has built in magnets to the desk, to keep a keyboard, mouse and other items in place. As part of the set, a magnetized remote control lets the user change the station’s position. These desks are basically desks that are positioned high enough where the user has to stand in order to work. Altwork Station is available for a discounted pre-order price of $3,900 at: www.altwork.com. In case you prefer laying down, the same simple process will get you in a horizontal position – and probably trigger your co-workers’ envy.
