Internationally, the movie, which was in its second weekend of release, brought in an estimated 55.5 million dollars from 83 total markets in three-day weekend, bringing its global gross to 112 million.

The movie took in an estimated 39 million USA dollars in almost 4 thousand theaters in the United States and Canada in its opening weekend. And, even in its third weekend in theatres, the superhero proved mightier than a fresh batch of R-rated comedies, “Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising” and “The Nice Guys”, both of which underwhelmed in their debuts. The cost of the entire movie was around $73 million which shows that the company has already made a handsome profit, and chances are high that there will be more to come.
Angry Birds, which features the voices of Sean Penn, Jason Sudeikis, Blake Shelton, Danny McBride, Josh Gad, Game of Thrones star Peter Dinklage, and singer Charlie XCX, managed to oust reigning US box office leader Captain America: Civil War, which drops to the runner-up slot after earning another $33.1 million (£23 million). “The numbers prove that when you go after the broadest base possible, you can be highly successful”.
Neighbors 2 brought in only $21.8m – less than half of the first film’s $49m opening in 2014.
“We’re really proud of Neighbors 2”, said Nick Carpou, Universal’s president of domestic distribution.
Rounding out the rest five out of 10 most popular films were “Money Monster” (7 million dollars), “The Darkness” (2.3 million), “Zootopia” (1.7 million), “Huntsman: Winter’s War” (1.2 million) and “Mother’s Day” (1.1 million).
